this collage represents the glamorization of drugs during the 70s rock and roll scene in los angeles. the perspective i wanted to portray was that of a rockstar in their prime. the gold and cluster of concert tickets represent the desirable fame and success. the head of the collage is supposed to represent the rockstar, who in my collage is multiple people. the nose is stevie nicks’, and the eyes are syd barrett’s from pink floyd—both 70s icons who suffered from drug addictions. i chose the photo of syd wearing rose-colored glasses to represent how clouded the rockstars’ perspectives were when caught up in fame and popularity. i love music history and was thrilled to have the creative freedom to explore rock history in a collage.
