the SCAD rides and tides competition is an annual competition in the foundations department at SCAD. this year's theme was the feeling of dropping in on a wave. for my surfboard design "don't forget to breathe" i created a vibrant board that represents the deep breath and energy before dropping in on a wave. the eyes move from top to bottom. eye open at the top and close in the middle, representing a deep breath right before dropping in. behind the eye is a wave that is barreling right in the middle of the board, further pursuing my story of a surfer taking a breath right as they catch their wave. my board was selected as a top 15 finalist among over 300 submissions.
